Privacy policy

AK Digital Labs runs the AK Digital Labs Academy in Ara, Bihar. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to be read, not to be skipped.
What we collect
- From Google, when you sign in: your name, email address and profile picture. That is all we request. We cannot read your Gmail, Drive, contacts or calendar.
- From you, in your profile: phone number, college, course, year and city.
- From the enrolment gate: your GitHub profile link, three written answers, and a 30-second video of you introducing yourself.
- As you study: attendance records, homework submissions and links, scores and instructor feedback.
- When you pay: the amount, the UPI reference number you give us, and the date. We never see or store your card number, UPI PIN or bank password.
- Automatically, when you mark attendance: a random device identifier, your IP address, and — only if you allow it — your approximate location. This exists to stop one student marking attendance for another, because attendance is worth ₹1,000.
Why we collect it
- To run your classes: unlock the right day, track homework, count attendance.
- To work out whether you have earned the ₹1,000 completion cashback.
- To contact you about class timings and missed work — by WhatsApp or phone.
- To keep attendance honest.
Your introduction video and class recordings
The 30-second video you record at enrolment is used to review your application, and — only if you agree separately, in writing — as a “before” clip in our marketing. You can refuse that use and still join the course. It makes no difference to your seat.
Every class is recorded so students who miss one can catch up. You will be visible and audible in those recordings. They are shared only with students in your batch, on unlisted links. Tell your instructor if you do not want to appear on camera and we will seat you out of frame.
Who else sees your data
- Your instructors and the academy admin. Nobody else.
- Google, for sign-in only. Their handling is governed by Google’s own privacy policy.
- Our payment provider, when online payments are switched on, for the transaction only.
- We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with recruiters or advertisers.
Where it lives, and for how long
Your data is stored on our own server, encrypted in transit. We keep it for the duration of the course and for three years afterwards, so that we can re-issue a certificate or verify your record if an employer asks. Backups are kept for a shorter period and then destroyed.
What you can ask us to do
- See everything we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete your account and personal data — though we must keep payment records for tax purposes.
- Withdraw permission for your video to be used in marketing, at any time.
Ask by messaging us on WhatsApp or speaking to your instructor. We will respond within 30 days.
Students under 18
If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree before you enrol, and they can exercise any of the rights above on your behalf.
If something goes wrong
If your data is ever exposed, we will tell affected students directly and promptly, explain what happened, and say what we are doing about it.
